As CEO of one of Australia's largest hotel and gaming operators, Dan is responsible for overseeing the multi faceted business with revenue streams including bars, gaming, off premise outlets and food. Other responsibilities include company infrastructure, capital works, HR strategies, business priorities and gaming performance and strategies.
Having spent almost 20 years working in hotels, Dan has worked his way through the ranks of the business from his early start as a DJ. He has built up extensive experience in the sector from basic operations through to running single sites, multi sites, working for owner operators, investors, investment portfolio and publicly listed company sites as well as owning his own venue. He has also been involved in industry group AHA steering and strategy for the industry.
Throughout his years working in the hotel sector, Dan is most proud of the cohesive teams he has managed. Despite the challenges those teams faced at times, the successful outcomes that were achieved through engendering a healthy work culture, fairness in the workplace, rewarding innovative and entrepreneurial talent and ensuring the whole process remained fun, were commendable.
As CEO, Dan has short and long-term goals firmly in mind with a well-defined direction for NLG. His plans include continuing to lead the industry in gaming performance, standards and service and innovating and leading NLG's off-premise involvement in contrast to the chains. He is also enthusiastic about further fine-tuning food operations to profitably package and deliver a group offering.
His long-term objectives include prioritising capital resources and human capital expertise to the on premise part of the business over the coming two years and further bolstering the development and training of venue managers to retain the old fashioned values of hospitality and equipping staff with the skills required to meet the challenges of today and the future.
Dan would like to reignite an industry passion for service, skill levels and customer engagement levels and operate the company in a transparent fashion allowing stakeholders, shareholders and employees to feel as though the company is maximising all profit-optimising opportunities. |
